Arjuna Award for Sardar Singh

India hockey vice-captain  Sardar Singh, nominated for the Arjuna award for his consistently good performance in Hockey for the last three years at the international level.

He was also the Player of the Tournament  in the last three International tournaments Olympic Qualifying held at New Delhi,  21st Sultan Azlan Shah Cup held at Malaysia and Tri-Nation series at Spain this year 

He was also selected in The World XI hockey  team for  years in 2010 and 2011. 

The Arjuna Awards was first introduced in 1961 and Mr. Prithipal Singh were the first hockey player awarded.
The Awardee is given a scroll of honor,a statuette, ceremonial dress and cash award of Rs. 5,00,000 (5 Lakhs), by The President of India.
