Eminent Hockey Players of India are worried about the future of Indian hockey.

Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) calls for a press conference in Delhi on Thursday 30th August.
IHF president announced to the media that they are ready to cooperate with Indian Olympic Association (IOA)  only if, in return they get to appoint independent members in committee which will solve the miss-understandings between IHF and Hockey India (HI).

hockey players
IHF want Independent members in the committee, someone equal to a renowned Sports Person or a retired Judge of The Supreme Court, who are capable of taking wise and unbiased decisions. The current committee consists of G.S. Mander, who is also the vice-president of IOA, which disbanded IHF. Therefore this was the basic reason of IHF for not supporting IOA Committee.

The issue of indian team poor performane in london olympics also raised in press conference,  Dhanraj Pillay, M.P Ganesh, Joaquim Carvalho, M.P Singh, Romeo James, Rajpal Singh and Hrender Singh all the eminent hockey players of India are worried about the future of Indian hockey.

Harender Singh said that ' The indian team which played in olympic is not the real Indian Hockey team, its Hockey India team'. Also they questioned the selection of this particular team for Olympic.
'Some best player of India not selected in team just because they have played in world Series Hockey (WSH) of IHF and that effected the olympic team performance ' Dhanraj Pillay added.

Hockey India and International Hockey Fedration are responsible for the disastrous performance of Indian hockey team in Olympic, Federation of International Hockey (FIH) banned Indian player who played WSH and in other hand why did they not banned to the Pakistani hockey players who played in WSH and also went to Olympics as their team member.

WSH and IHF have also given the list of player who perform well in WSH to HI but they not pick any of them in olympic team, if they want India to perform well in olympic they should pic the best player of India no matter  they played WSH or not.

India have lots of children who are so disciplined and wanted to start Hockey.

India have lot of talent in Hockey but need a Jeweler to identify and polish them.

Few corporate houses like J.P Group, Sahara, Mittals and many more are coming forward to promote Olympic Sports in India.

India has lots of talented children who are so disciplined and wanting to start playing hockey.

Some NGO's like One Thousand Hockey Legs, Jude Felix Hockey, Stick for India Hockey, Surjit Hockey Society, Faith Hockey and many more are doing a great work to promote hockey in our country. They help children to develop their hockey skills from grass root level, that is from schools and colleges.

Today nearly 7000 children have joined such NGOs and train regularly, but sadly nothing like this is done by respective authority that run hockey in India.

Maybe in the future, India will be able to produce more world class hockey players through such initiative, which will benefit the standards of Indian hockey as well.

Who should hold the power and run hockey in our country

indian Hockey
Sports Minister Ajay maken with Hockey India Sectary Narender Batra
and  Indian Hockey Federation President R.K Shetty.

Who should hold the power and run hockey in our country. The conclusion between these is now in the hands of a Committee of three. Will it be Hockey India (HI) or Indian Hockey Federation (IHF)?

The above mentioned team, consists of a chairman GS Mander, former president of Wrestling Federation of India with the other members, Birendra Prasad, president of Indian Weightlifting Federation and Secretary General of Handball Federation of India SM Bali.

The team will be meeting the two parties, Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federation separately before the hearing on August 21. Both parties have to send a report by Aug 31 to IOA and FIH.

Some good players were not chosen for Olympics because they had played in World Hockey Series(WSH) and because of this India had the worst performance in the Olympics. It was the worst of all in the history of Indian Hockey. Winner of eight gold medals ending up at the bottom in London Olympic 2012.

IHF and HI should merge without any delay, to revive indian hockey and to regain the golden era of hockey in India.

Endless Fight Between Two Hockey Federations

Endless Fight between Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federation

Hockey India V/S Indian Hockey Federation
Indian Hockey  v/s  Two Federation
Two different bodies controlling Hockey in India, in 2008 International Hockey Federation (FIH) recognized Hockey India (HI) and Indian Hockey Federation (IHF).

While the two federations, Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federations remain headstrong in their stands and don't want to join hands therefore the players are left to choose their priority between them, the Indian  players or those on the national team are suffered the most.

The seniors hockey is dead and junior / sub-Junior hockey is no where, No one is looking at the future of Hockey in India, Grass roots hockey is disappear and School collages almost stop entertaining hockey.

Whether HI or IHF no one is working for hockey they only believes hockey is there Empire and they have obtained life-time rights, Finishing last at London Olympics HI and FIH not have a sport left for battle.

Indian hockey is already on its death bed and if this continues no one stops the death of hockey in India.

It was a black day for Indian Hockey

 Black day for Indian Hockey

black day for Indian Hockey

It was the first time that the eight-time Gold medalist finished Olympics without winning a match.

New Delhi, It was a black day for Indian  Hockey, with the eight-time Olympic champions finished  last in London Olympic 2012. it was the worst day for Indian  Hockey. It is our worst performance and there is no justification to it. Captain Bharat Chetri  has already apologised to the nation. When you lose the opening match,it becomes very difficult to make a comeback. That loss was crucial. We could never make a comeback from there on. We played well but only in patches.

Nobbs came down hard on the players for not giving their best. “We had a lot of expectations from the players, but they came a cropper. , Shivender Singht, Tushar khandekar  disappointed a lot. Even Sandeep Singh  was nowhere near his best.It was the first time that the eight-time Gold medalist finished Olympics without winning a match.

Sardar Singh said“We keep making the same mistakes in all matches and we have to improve a lot. It’s very disappointing. The whole team has been mentally affected,We have to be tough in the circle in future,It’s very disappointing finishing last”.

India Hockey finishing first from bottom in London Olmpics

India Hockey finishing first from bottom in London Olympics.

I am totally agreed with Bharat Chetri what he said after India finishing first from the bottom 'we don't deserve to play in Olympic' Which  is true.

indian olympic hockey team
Now I am coming on our Olympic qualifier  hero Known as the fastest drag flickers in the world.sandeep Singh.I have never ever seen sandeep scoring a goal against top hockey nation like Germany ,Australia ,Holland last eight years. Now I come on second point Sandeep  always score more than 70 percents of his career goal against a lower ranking team like France. Canada. Italy etc.
Our Slute star Mr. shivender Singh I have seen  hardly he received the ball against top hockey nation that the reason why he is not seen during any game in Olympic.
All we need to change our hockey running authorities  they don't deserve. They only care about their ego not for country pride Now HI want 4 more years, what you have done in the last four year.
Indian best player who played WSH like Rajpal Singh , Arjun Hallapa , Prabjoot Singh , V.S Vinay, Bharat Chikhara  ,Roshan Minz and many more who deserve to play Olympic, and having more experience then this team, but they did not picked up because they have  played in  WSH.
Pakistani Player also played WSH,Pakistan hockey federation  as well banned them for playing, but they know without taking best player of the country to Olympic they will not be able to do well without them. They changed ban into fine and picked  them for Olympic team.
Indian hockey running authorities don't want our nation team to perform well. They did not take back banns from our Sr players, If Ego comes second and Country comes first and i am sure the current scenario be different.
I am Not a Writer or Journalist but my opinion is that don't try to change Indian style hockey try to  improve  our own style hockey, don't try to copy European style. our neighbor country Pakistan has done this in Olympic and they finish 7th without any foreign coach.
I wish Indian Hockey also try to improve what they have.

Jose Brasa v/s Micheal Nobbs

Jose Brasa v/s  Micheal Nobbs

Former Indian Coach Jose Brasa v/s current coach Nobbs
Group B of the Men's hockey - Netherlands (12pts) have qualified. Germany (9pts) have to beat the Kiwis to clinch their place. South Korea (6pts) hava fighting chance and need to beat the Netherlands and Germany need to lose to NZ. NZ & Belgium hav 4 pts each so even if India win their game vs Belgium they will end with only 3 pts and the bottom of the Group and thus will play for 11-12th place. Jose Brasa's team went into the 2010 World cup seeded 12th and finished 8th. Nobbs team went to the Olympics seeded 10th and will finish 11th/12th :( ... Those results should speak for themselves.

Lets Join Hand To bring Hockey back to the first place

Lets Join Hand To bring Hockey back to the first place

With great sorrow I will also have to say that the Game of Hockey is fading away from the minds and Hearts of Indians. Government and the Hockey federation must take the responsibility for the poor performance of the Indian Hockey team to which the Legend Dhyanchand belong.
indian team
Indian players pose with the trophy on the victory podium after the men's field hockey match between India and France
I believe their are multiple reasons behind the recent unpopularity of Hockey among Indian youngsters and common people.
  •  Cricket has overshadowed everything else as the sponsors and the spectators are only interested in cricket.
  • The constant poor performances by Indian hockey team has made the fans turn away from the game.
  • The corruption in all departments of Indian administration has gripped the Hockey federation and has degraded Indian Hockey.
  • The class of people who play hockey and cricket are different. Most of the people who play hockey are from middle class or poor background. They take up playing hockey with a purpose of getting a job.
  • Most of the  parents encourage their children to take up cricket and rarely they encourage them to take up hockey or other game. Whereas in foriegn countries professionals like doctors and engineers also play hockey and other games as hobby.
  • The corruption in all departments of Indian administration has gripped the Hockey federation and has degraded Indian Hockey.
  • The Government of India doesn't really know how to handle sports.

To bring up the team spirit we have to take some steps

Firstly, all players representing the nation at the International level championship should be paid equally. Let it be the players of Cricket, Hockey, Football or even the athletes. Everybody who represent India should be paid equally. If we make discrimination here, how can we expect the National team to perform well.

The most popular sport in India is Cricket because it is run by a private organization in a professional way. Yes, BCCI is a private organization. BCCI is a society, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act. It is a "private club consortium". Similar governance is needed in hockey and other sports.

India has no dearth of talented coaches. Rajinder Singh Sr, Cedric Dsouza, MK Kaushik, Joachim Carvalho and Bhaskaran Vasudevan are some of the examples. We must have an Indian coach and new coach should be given the contract for four years ideally from Olympic to Olympic to develop a team.

Government should find some ways to make our National game once again popular and the game of the mass.
Hockey also will become equivalent to cricket in the coming future. It only need lot of hands to lift it up. Team work can bring it back to the first place. Come let us all join hands for this cause.

while Indians managed to put together a few moves leading to a couple of penalty corners, but not able to convert any one of them.

South Korea began off on a excellent start with a goal in the instant 6th min. But Indian equalized in the 9th through Gurwinder Singh. After that rainfall came down at the Riverbank Field during the first half Both team level 1-1.

Coach Michael Nobbs has questioned the commitment of the players.

indian hockey Coach Michael Nobbs

                    Coach Michael Nobbs

"We have got some players out there just wanting to be Olympians whereas international hockey demands heart for a fight. There is nothing bigger than heart of a volunteer," said Nobbs after 2-5 defeat by Germany Friday.
"We did not play our natural game in the first half. They boys perhaps got overawed by the Dutch team instead of playing their game," Nobbs said at the post-match press conference.
“We’ve got some players out there just wanting to be Olympians, but international hockey demands heart for a fight,” Nobbs said as India brace for their next game against Asian opponents South Korea on Sunday.
“The players need to make a decision whether they are satisfied just to be Olympians and return home, or are they willing to be tough and make that commitment for the team’s cause,”
The coach said until and unless the players take up challenges, Indian hockey will continue to suffer.
