Know Indian Captain - Bharat Chettri

Name: Bharat Chettri, Indian Team Captain.
Born: 1982 in Darjeeling
Position: Goalkeeper
Debut: In 2001 playing in the Prime Minister Gold Cup Tournament in Dhaka,Bangladesh.
captain of the Indian team in October 2011 for the four-nation Super Series and an international tournament in Australia.
He was the captain of the Indian team in the 2012 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia, which won the bronze medal.
Chettri will lead Indian hockey squad in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Indian Hockey Team, All Sets For Olympic.



Hockey India announced a team of 16 members for London Olympics. Goalkeeper, Bharat Chetri is the captain and Sardar singh as a vice-captain.
The team was almost same which played in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup held in Malaysia and finished 3rd. The only changed in the team was Yuvraj Walmiki and Rupinderpal Singh.
Indian team main strength is the goalkeeper,Bharat Chetri; drag flicker, Sandeep Singh and midfielder, Sardara Singh with experienced Ignace Tirkey.
The team seemed well organised and playing more attacking hockey these days but have to work on defense error ,chief coach Michael Nobbs putting his all effort to improve team fittness and defens before the Olympic.
Indian Team are on Europe tour of France and Spain after that Indian team will reach London by July 19.
Indian team missed last Olympic 2008 after losing final with Great Britain in Olympic qualifier held in Chili.
Indian team is in Group B with Germany,South Korea,Netherlands, New Zealand and Belgium,First encounter of indian team is with Netherlands on July 30 at Riverbank Arena,then have to face New Zealand on August 1 ,on August 3 India have match against last year Olympic champions Germany then with South Korea on August 4 and Belgium on August 7.

India lost to Great Britain


London 2012 Olympics: Team GB hockey star Simon Mantell fractures metatarsal
After getting a good start India lost their opening match to Great Britain (1;3) in Santander Tri Nation Warm Up Series on Saturday.
India got a good start from a goal in the 3rd minute by forward Sivender Singh after that the Great Britain team started playing more attacking hockey and the score was leveled in the 17th minute by James Tindall by a Penalty Corner. Until half time scores were 1:1.
In second half the Indian team come back with a positive note and grabbed a number of goal chances but fail to covert, some how GB diffeanc manage to escape from indian strom.
Great Britain went ahead in 45th minute when Tindall made a Penalty Stork and Ashley Jackson made no mistake to put GB ahead,After second goal from Great Britain India wanted a equalizer but Indian forward not able to find any lope holes in GB diffeanc.
Great Britain score 3rd goal in 62nd minute this time Harry Martin converted a rebound in Penalty Corner.
This was the first match for both team India Played well now they have to face Spain on July 18 .

Indian Hockey in Olympics

After a long time Indian hockey team look great they qualified for London Olympics.
In coaching of Michel Nobbs Indian team now showing there best hockey,playing with senior players like Ignace Trikey as well young player Manpreet Singh now team look balance and playing more attacking hockey.
The two S,drag flicker Sandeep Singh and midfielder Sardara Singh are playing in there best foam.Indian team had missed out in 2008 Olympics after losing final of Olympics qualifier held in chili, that was the first time Indian hockey team not taking part in Olympics.
This time Indian team qualified for Olympics and looking like they will grab a podium finish.
